Top 10 Resources for Learning About Tech to Support Reading

It seems like every school and district I’m in, there’s a lot of interest in using technology to help students learn to read – and, boy oh boy, has the industry responded. Our students, teachers, and families are being bombarded with resources that promise to support Close Reading! And Comprehension! And Foundational Skills! And Annotation! And in our efforts to get up and going with this work, we often see very little critical evaluation of what, exactly, makes an electronic resource powerful for supporting kids both as academic and pleasure readers. As librarians, we have the opportunity to be curators of the many resources flying our way, making sure that our students and families find and access the best tools to support their particular reading goals.
